Sheila Kirpalani — Devoted mother, Passionate educator, Talented artist. Sheila Kirpalani was an outstanding science teacher at Central Commerce Collegiate from 1988 to 1999, whose passion was biology teaching while there. She was known around the school for her commitment to teaching, high educational standards, and passion for biology. Over a career in education spanning four decades, Mrs. Kirpalani was a university lecturer and high school teacher in Mumbai (India), London (England) and Toronto. She lived in Toronto from 1967 until she passed away in 2009. She was a wonderful singer and musician as well, but is most remembered as an amazing mother to Dr. Anish Kirpalani.
In her loving memory, this scholarship will be awarded annually to promote achievement and interest in the life sciences, and is funded through The Sheila Kirpalani Foundation.
This scholarship will be awarded to any graduating student who has demonstrated excellent achievement in senior high school biology, acceptance into a life sciences program at university, financial need, and community service. This scholarship will help to motivate students in biology and encourage the study of life sciences in university. The Sheila Kirpalani Foundation will be the entire source of funding for this scholarship.
The Scholarship for 2011 has been awarded.
