Girl in classOptimal Outcomes Childcare Consultation is a free program funded by the City of Toronto through the Toronto Foundation for Student Success. Optimal Outcomes Childcare Consultation provides a community based resource to ensure the successful inclusion of children with special needs by supporting staff and building capacity in childcare settings.

The goals of the program include:

  • Providing professional assessments to identify individual needs
  • Lending support to licensed childcare centres, licensed home care providers and family resource programs
  • Providing training and support to staff and families
  • Developing individualized programs
  • Assisting families in accessing community services and treatment where needed
  • Liaising with school staff to ensure smooth transitions into the school system
  • Utilizing a collaborative and coordinated approach to ensure effective practice.

The program's gift is its ability to keep everyone involved in a child's care focused on a shared goal and the needs of the child.
