It was the seventh annual Feeding Toronto's Hungry Students Week. Students and staff from the TDSB gathered to build awareness and raise funds for the nutrition programs that nourish close to 110,000 TDSB students!
The week-long event provided many opportunities to volunteer and help make a difference in our Toronto schools:
- TTC Take Over: Teams of secondary students will collect donations at TTC Subway Stations from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 4 and Thursday, October 6. All participants earn volunteer hours.
- Director’s Toonie Challenge: Just one toonie provides a breakfast and a snack for a hungry student. Rise to Dr. Spence’s challenge to collect as many toonies as possible during the week.
- Quiznos Lunch Event: Elementary and Middle schools can offer students a delicious, nutritious lunch with Quiznos remitting a portion of every sale back to student nutrition programs. Book enough orders and earn a free tray of sandwiches for staff members.
- Create Your Own Event: Schools are welcome to create their own fundraiser to raise money for student nutrition programs. Last year, schools organized dodge ball tournaments, bake sales, karaoke contests and more.
For more information, or to register for one of the above events, contact Hal Whitcomb, Special Events & Fundraising Manager at 416.394.4491 or hal.whitcomb@tdsb.on.ca.
FTHSW is a week-long campaign to raise funds for and awareness of student hunger in Toronto. Your class or school’s participation will help make a major impact on the lives of many of our students and bring us closer to our goal of no hungry students
