The kids are hungry for whole bunches of things. They're hungry for knowledge, they're hungry for experience and independence, they're hungry
for affection and recognition and respect, but they hunger above all, for food.
If that core hunger for food is not fulfilled they can't satisfy easily any of their other hungers.
