Hoopes4Hope TeamChris Spence, Director of Education for the Toronto District School Board, believes in this so much he has put together a "TDSB All-Stars" basketball team, filled with dedicated Senior Team members, school administrators and teachers who love to play basketball and are passionate about education and student success.

Throughout the 2009-10 school year, the All-Stars will be playing one game a month against teams of teachers, administrator and other staff at schools throughout the TDSB. It's all to raise awareness of the issue of child poverty - one of the key barriers to learning. With the belief that every student deserves an equitable chance at success, the All-Stars will reinforce the idea that, in Toronto's schools, poverty does not have to equal failure.

One hundred percent of funds raised through ticket sales and other methods is given directly to the Toronto Foundation for Student Success, helping to make a difference in the lives of the city's most disadvantaged students.
