Apple"Thank you. We are lucky you give us snacks because some people do not have breakfast." Cindy, Grade three student.

Many families living in poverty simply cannot afford to purchase the fruits and vegetables essential for their children’s growth and health. Thanks to the generosity of caring individuals and organizations, the Toronto Foundation for Student Success (TFSS) provides over one million apples a year to students that need them most. The TFSS Apple Program works directly with Ontario growers to purchase local apples inexpensively. As a result, it only takes about 10¢ to place a nutritious, delicious apple into the hands of an appreciative child. Teachers report that the Apple Program has contributed to children experiencing fewer colds and taking less time off school due to illness as well as greater concentration in the classroom. While the Apple Program reaches close to 150 schools, further support will allow us to extend the program to more than 100 other schools.
